The design derives from the 2D projection of the intruiging 3-dimensional figure of an ‘oloid’. The spheric outline is sharply cut by this geometry of upwards and downwards facing circle strokes, making the contours of the edges almost thin as paper - contrasting the inside of the rosette which is soft and curvy. The valleys of the curves let out beams of light while the tops throw a pattern of gradient shadows. OLOID is beautiful mounted on both walls and ceilings.
It fits easily in old and new architectural environments and is beautifully mounted on both walls and ceilings.
Please note that each piece of plaster is poured in molds and retouched by hand: Small air bubbles are inevitable and part of the tactile human touch. The gypsum and porcelain parts can be installed as they are - or painted to suit any specific surroundings. Further layers of painting will cover up some of the air bubbles and traces of sanding.
